I joined the Midwest Diesel Tech Academy team in June of 2022 after working as a technical trainer for a large Original Equipment Manufacturer for 15 years. In my previous position, I developed both Web Based Training (WBT) and Instructor Led Training (ILT) classes from the ground up on major engine emissions platforms, aftertreatment systems, and remote monitoring systems by working with the personnel who designed and tested the equipment.

The dual responsibility of course creation and delivery to dealer service technicians allowed the capability to ensure that content was current and readily understood. I am a life-long learner and am continually fueled to learn and master new information, and I am excited about the opportunity to expand my knowledge base in this position.

The relaxed “can-do” atmosphere of MDTA was a leading factor in my decision to work for the company. The most important aspect of being a trainer is creating a positive learning environment to allow the learner to be comfortable and successful. I have always enjoyed the process of tailoring the curriculum to individual student needs and providing ample hands-on activities to reinforce learning.

I enjoy working with instructor Brad Bockelmann, and together we will enable success for Academy students by propelling their careers in the field of semi repair and maintenance.

After 13 years working as a diesel technician – including 5 years at Peterbilt of Sioux City -- I jumped at the chance to join the teaching staff at Midwest Diesel Tech Academy.

During high school, I developed my work ethic working on the farm. I took automotive classes at Western Iowa Tech Community College, and then continued my degree after graduation.

I learned a lot of the basics about diesel technology during my first full-time job with a local freight transportation company. After 8 years, I moved on to Peterbilt of Sioux City, where I was enrolled in the in-house company training programs.

My goal as an instructor is to teach the basic skills needed for students to enter this industry, as well as pass along the tips and tricks I’ve picked up over the years. I believe finding out what you don’t know is the most important step in figuring out a problem.
